I have found that most people don't realize adoptee's have no access to their biological histories. We are denied the rights that others have. We are denied access to our "true" birth certificates & instead given altered records of our birth. This is a basic right that everyone else takes for granted. We are denied even the most basic medical information unless we have an urgent need to know and can find a sympathetic judge to open our records & order a third party to search for our biological families. Adoptees die unnecessarily from genetic illnesses because the system says they have no right to know about them.
The people in control of our true heritage claim that the birth mothers forget their children & don't want to be found but in many cases they are searching also. How do you forget about a part of your soul that is taken away? Adult adoptees & their birth mothers should have access to these records without the hassle & expense of going to court.

In Memoriam Baby Boy Szopo 1968 - 1992

Baby Boy Szopo would have been 30 on August 12, 1998 but he had a heart problem that ended his life at 24. He inherited a heart defect. If Pennsylvania had open records, he could have had his birth family's medical history. The doctor might have been able to correct it before it took his life but, he didn't know. He was adopted and state law in Pennsylvania seals adoption records from everyone involved, including the adoptee.

The law in Pennsylvania is wrong....
DEAD WRONG!!
